| Comments: Being from the NE of England I was greatly attracted to the story description on the back of 'The Lords of the North' so I bought it and enjoyed it immensely. It was only when reading the 'Historical Note' at the end that I realised that I wasn't reading a 'stand-alone' volume; but book 3 of a series. This isn't the first time this has happened to me with one of your books and my wife, an avid novel reader, read the description on the back cover and agreed that there was nothing there to indicate it was part of a series. No harm done though, as I bought and read 'The Last Kingdom' while staying up in Yorkshire [or should I say Northumbria?] and I'm now very pleasantly working my way through 'The Pale Horseman'; but wouldn't it be helpful if somewhere on the cover of such a book it said something like 'Book 2 in the XXX Chronicle'??? Purely as an aside, I may be one of your few readers who's never read a Sharpe novel - I started with Azincourt which I picked up at Stansted airport on the way out on holiday. Magnificent - I was there with you and Shakespeare got it wrong!!! My very best wishes, Mike
