Dear Bernard, I would just like to say that I had the good fortune to meet you this week when you were in London, it was a great pleasure. I started to read your books earlier in the year, starting with Heretic which I purchased from a Charity shop, I was so enthralled that I did some research on the Internet and found a complete list of all your books. I have read approximately half your books so far and I am continuing to find all the others and read them too. I have read some of the other readers comments, regarding making films from your books I think that this would be a disaster, firstly usually a film is approx 3 hours long, so I think a lot would be cut from your stories, anyway it is far better to read and get a feel for the story by your very descriptive writing, I for one find it hard to put your books down after I have started reading them. I think the best book of yours that I have read so far has to be Stonehenge, truly remarkable. Please keep up the very good writing, and I hope you continue to publish even more books.I would very much like to attend one of your talks, I will keep an eye on this website for future events. Yours sincerely, Steve Halstead

Just wanted to write and say thank you - Your Arthurian series is the best trilogy I've read, and I love the Sharpe novels. I'm also excited about the story of Uhtrd in Alfred's England. Here's to many more great stories, yours, Simon Moetara

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, I have just read The Pale Horseman, having read The Last Kingdom last year, and would just like to say they are amazing books. Leofric and the two Ragnars never fail to cheer me up! I almost liked Alfred at one point, when he was sat in the marshes ruling nothing but frogs and eels, before he got his priests and bishops back and became all pious again. Keep up the good work, I'm already looking forward to the next instalment! Julia Marsh

Q

Dear Bernard, The Warlord series have to be the greatest books I have read. Seriously! Whenever I thought of Arthur and the men of the Round Table, I got that thought of Richard Gere and Sean Connery or that new film which was okay but to be honest, your books had a better, believable and well structured plot. Sharpe will always have a place on my bookshelf but the Warlord Chronicles shall be the ones I'll always remember. Thanks. Colum O'Rourke, Eire

Q

Hello Bernard! When I read in one of your recent answers that the Starbuck 5 is all researched and plotted, I was thrilled!! And then when I read that you'd like to write four or five more Starbuck, I nearly wept for joy (okay not really - I am at work afterall, but I was very happy!) I too hope you will find time to do that soon. Maybe one Anglo-Saxon book and one Starbuck book a year.....just a thought. : ) Tom

Dear Mr Cornwell May I just say thank-you so very much for opening a whole new world for me. I did not read a book until I was in my late twenties and now regret that very much. I really have my wife to thank as much as you, because it was her, after many years trying to get me to read, got me interested in Sharpe, though the T.V show. Then after reading the first Sharpe book, I was hooked so went out and bought the rest of them and what wonderful books they are; my favourite books have to be the Arthur books. Now because of you and a new found love in reading, authors such as C.S. Forrester, Julian Stockwin and Simon Scarrow have found new homes to enrich. Now like the proverable bus, I have to find time to read three new books (and carry on a college degree). So I just wanted to say thank-you once again and hopefuly one day I will get to meet you and thank you in person, so you may sign my now growing collection of your books. Regards. Simon

Q

Sir, I have finally obtained and read all 20 of the Sharpe's books that you have written. It has taken several years, and I have read and re-read all of the ones that I bought early on and it is well worth it. I just finished reading, in order, everything from Sharpe's Tiger to Sharpe's Devil. I would like to thank you for 2 months of enjoyment once again! You are an extrememly skilled author! I feel that I know Sharpe and Harper and when I put down the last book, I felt a bit like I was saying goodbye to friends that I would never see again. Thank you for all of the time and effort that you put inot researching these fantastic books! Each time I read them I pick up something new. I do have several ideas for books and know that I am not skilled enough to fully develop them. I read in the forward to this that you do not want ideas and can fully understand why! As a police Officer I echo your distrust for lawyers! Keep up the good work! Franklin McQuage Jr.

Hello Bernard, I've just received October's Bulletin from the Sharpe Appreciation Society and was saddened to hear of your disasterous summer. May I say how extremely happy I am that you have recovered from prostate cancer. The description of what you went through, will, I am sure, be a help to others in your situation, particularly how you mis-self diagnosed the screens during your bone scan. I have read most of your books and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. I have about 3 books of yours to go until I have read them all. You are the most fantastic author ever to grace the world. I have 2 signed books of yours and spoke with you briefly in Leeds in 2004. It is an honour to have done that. I wish you good health and a very very long and happy life. I hope that cancer never dares to interupt your writing again. Lisa McMillan

Thank you!

Q

Mr. Cornwell: I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading your "Starbuck" series. I went through your "Frequently Asked Questions" and got my answer. Therefore, I would hasten to add: please write your 5th novel & more. Thanks. David V. Drumheller, Sr.

While not reading your books which I have to admit is most of the time, I like a good detective novel. I am a fan of all the Sherlock Holmes Novels, I thought you might like to Know of a Author Named Larry Millett. His Novels on The Great Holmes are second to none. I think you would like his main Character Shadwell Rafferty, a Civil war soldier,Retired Cop,Bartender, and A-1 Detective. Your Humble Servant Dan Iburg Ret. NYPD
