Just wanted to say that I love your books. I just finished listening to your most recent book "The Last Kingdom" on Audiodisc and it is right up to snuff with your other writings. I do hope that Tom Sellwood will be narrating your next book because he's excellent! It's almost as much fun to listen to him read your book as it is to read it myself. Dave Aldinger

Excellent website, I wrote Mr. Williams also. You are ambitous to keep in touch with your fans. I just wanted to cast my vote for exploring the Roman era. My brother in Nova Scotia got me into your books, and although I thoroughly hated history in school, you've found a way to make it my favorite subject. You must feel as though your being pulled in all directions at times, between your own interests ("Let's see, am I in the mood for Sharpe tonight, or a modern thriller? Perhaps some roasted Saxon...."), and suggestions by ever vehement fans like me! I can't believe people actually send you manuscripts.......Ralph Muench, Calgary, Alberta

Just finished reading The Last Kingdom and went online to see what the title of the following book is. I have not read or had an interest in historical based novels and have always read spy/thriller/detective style novels. No more. This novel has lead me to further expand my reading interests and I await with eager anticipation for The Pale Horseman. Thanks for the great read.
Philip Richardson

Hello Mr. Cornwell The Last Kingdom is one of two books I read in my life that came so close to satisfying my imagination and fascination with history of nations. (the other book is about an ancient heroic arab character called Antar Ebin Shadad). Tawfiq Afifi

Q

Dear Bernard You asked if anyone knew of any books about Scottish Jacobites. The answer is Nigel Tranter - his books cover almost the entire History of Scotland. regards, Rob

Dear Mr. Cornwell: In a September 7th posting, Mike asked for recommendations of historical fiction on the Scottish Jacobites. I would highly recommend the many novels of Nigel Tranter, particularly the MacGregor Trilogy. There is also Sir Walter Scott's classic "Rob Roy." Lastly, there is Robert Louis Stevenson's novel "The Master of Ballantrae." This should keep Mike busy for a while. Alan Kempner

I have read nearly all the Sharpe books and have just finished reading 'The Last Kingdom', everything I've read by you is just brilliant, I've just started reading Harlequin, only done 20 pages so far and I know I'm in for a treat. Can't wait for the Pale Horseman to come out. keep up the god work. Brian.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, Thank you so much for the reading pleasure you've given me and countless others over the years. I find that even after reading and re-reading the Sharpe novels again and again, they still paint the same vivid pictures they always did, and I truly hope that one day I shall be able to visit some of the places you describe so beautifully in your books. My fifteen year old son has recently started reading the Sharpe series, so another flame is kindled! May I also add my voice to the many, I'm sure, who have requested that you write a sequel to 'Gallows Thief'? The adventures of Capt. Sandman were a wonderful tonic for a bored convalescant with a leg full of metal following a motorcycle accident. I nearly forgot I was in hospital! Regards, Keith Bennett, Stoke On Trent
