I have read all of the Sharpe series but did not appreciate the historical accuracy and reality of many of the characters in the books until I read Richard Holmes' Redcoat. Can I just say how much more this has added to my enjoyment and appreciation of your works. The interweaving of fact with fiction is superb. Thank you.

Dear Mr Cornwell I just thought I'd say I'm am a huge fan of Sharpe. I've also read your Warlord Chronicles series several times and it's my favourite set of books. I think they would be an amazng set of films, better then the 2004 king Arthur film if done right. PLease try to do this they would be brillant! William Blackledge

Mr Cornwell, I have purchased every book you have published in Australia and by way of feedback I wish to state clearly that you have brought me more enjoyment than any other author in any similar genre. I am 38 years old and have been reading your novels for over 15 years. Now I read some of your books to my boys as a rollicking, swashbuckiling bed time read and they love them, and look forward to the nights when I pull out Richard Sharpe or Starbuck 30 minutes before bedtime. So now you are bringing joy to 2 generations!!! That, I suppose, is the mark of a great artist, which you most certainly are. Thank you and God bless Jon Winsbury Melbourne, Australia

Q

I read "Scroundel" a couple of weeks ago, and just finished the "Bloody Ground" while on vacation. I know from your comments elsewhere on your website you have been asked about the status of the next Starbuck novel. I just hope there is a 5th Starbuck volume in the near future. Also, I recently finished Sharpe's Gold, and am looking forward to reading "Escape". Keep up the excellent writing. Virgil Johnson

Q

Your Sharpe's series and the Strabuck Chronicles were books that I couldn't put down and more often than not read them in a few short days. They were greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just finished "Stormchild" in 4 hours- couldn't put it down! Thank you for writing it, it was magnificent!!! We are in the process of selling our house to buy a boat and do some cruising. All I want to read are sea adventures and yours was a wild ride. I wish I hadn't finished it - it was so much fun to read. Nancy R.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell the first time I came across one of your books was in London in 1997, that was Enemy of God.Since then I find it hard to read another author.I've gone through all the Arthur series (actually I've read the three books probably over a dozen times)from Stonehenge, Starbuck chronicles to the Qrail quest I've read them all over and over again. Finally I read my first Sharpe book(Sharpe's Eagle) and the shit hit the fan. In my 29 years of life I have never been so caught up in a series of books! I literally cannot put them down, I only have 17 Sharpe books to date and I've already read those over half a dozen times. That whole Napoleonic era I find so extremely fascinating and the way you write I almost wish I knew how to speed read just so I can get to the next paragraph faster.Looking back on this email it looks like I'm a little crazy or maybe infatuated? I'm not, I'm a simple machinist ,father of a wonderful 5 year old boy and husband to a U.S.F. graduate. I collect toys, play computer games, tattoos and read your books!!! All in all I would just like to say I think your a wonderful author and storyteller I wish you continued success in your work and now you have another lifelong fan!!!! oh and Scoundrel was just awesome!!! Jamie Nolan Kingma

Q

Dear Bernard, I just want to say keep up the good work! It must be so hard for you with so many demands to write books. Everyone wants more Sharpe, more Starbuck, more Thomas, more Uthred etc. Personally I think you should write whatever series interests you most because whatever it is it will be stunning anyway. Just keep writing anything because your books bring history alive! Jon Clayton

Write more, faster. I love your books. Do not waste time reading this, you need to write. Philip Walter
