Just finished Vagabond. Simply superb ! Gamargaritis

Mr. Cornwell, I'm 62 years of age have not read but a handful of books of fiction in my lifetime-I stumbled upon Richard Sharpe quite by accident (foolishly thinking "Waterloo" was non-fiction) What a glorious read! I am hooked! Currently I'm reading the final Starbuck and reading my 7th Sharpe, and "Enemy of God." Thank you of many hours of enjoyment-Sharpe, Starbuck and Derfel are my kind of men. Many thanks! Bob

Q

Just a quick follow up about the forlorn hope patch question I sent before Xmas. I got a response from the 95th living history study group who said that only the 52nd gave valiant stormer patches - the 95th issued medals. Kieron

But Sharpe was with the South Essex by then, a fictional regiment, so it's still OK!

Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell- my sister, who has all your Sharpe books, and has read them all at least twice, got me addicted this Fall. I enjoy them very much, they are incredible page-turners. To show you how much I love to read them, I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to finish "Waterloo". Now I did already know who won at Waterloo, but I couldn't go to bed without seeing how Sharpe and Harper weathered it all. My problem now is this: I am suffering Sharpe withdrawal pains. I don't want you to take Sharpe from Lucille anymore, but perhaps you, like Patrick O'Brien, could make one year have 24 months in it and put him back in Spain or Portugal again to help ease the pains? I thank you so much for many hours of total escape. PS I notice that some people put their age so I will too. Priscilla Gadzinski, 73, White River Jct., VT

I'll see what I can do! Thanks for the message.

Greatly enjoyed Last Kingdom and look forward to next instalment - and what an interesting connection in Saga mag. Presume Starbuck and Thomas of Hookton not forgotten and will be marching again sometime and surely Sharpe cannot rest? Your endosement Conn Iggulden fully justified - just finished his latest - serious rival for you there! Thank you for the enjoyment you have given since you began writing. I found the Arthur trilogy especially exciting as I know the Abermule area well from holidays; wish I had a pound for each time I have cycled up Derfel's valley - where you stayed for a while - imagination is a wonderful thing! Q

Hi Mr. Cornwell. Have just finished the Last Kingdom and have enjoyed it immensely. I have read most of your books now and started with Harlequin. You have opened a new literary arena for me as I had read hardly any historical fiction. I can't seem to get enough now so thanks for that. I hope we will hear from Uhtred again soon and I hope you enjoy writing and creating these characters as much as we enjoy reading about them. yours Sarah Mayson.

A

I do enjoy it Sarah, thank you! And you will be hearing from Uhtred again soon.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, My fiance who lives in England recommended your books to me. He said that I would love them and he was exactly right! I have just finished Gallows Thief. Excellent book! I could not put it down! Please continue a series with Sandman and the characters that helped him find the real killer. I would love to know how their lives progressed! I love the way you wove real facts into the plot! I am not only an avid reader, but also a budding journalist just starting college at 42 years of age. You make people like me want to write. I look forward to reading all of your books! I believe I will start The Arthur book series after I have read A Crowning Mercy. Best Wishes In All Your Endeavors, Linda

And best of luck to you with your new career!

Q

Hello, I just wanted to say that I loved the Last Kingdom. Once again it was a book of yours that I could not put down, desperate to know what happens next. I've never found that feeling before for so many books from the same author. I'm very much looking forward to the next one. Kind regards, Helen

Q

I'm reading the Warlord Chronicles and I find them very interesting. I just wanted to say that they are really cool and I look forward to reading the rest of your books. I'm pretty young so I just wanted to know after I finish the Warlord chronicles if you can give me advice on other books like this that you have read and enjoyed.

Hi - I just wanted to thank you for turning me into a book reader. I never really had time for books until I was given a copy of The Winter King. I started reading it expecting the usual lack of interest to creep in, but it didn't. I bought the following two books and devoured them. They were simply stunning. After that I read Stonehenge, a book that not only kept my interest but left me in awe of the people that built it. I still have not had the chance to visit this site, but I will get there eventualy. I'm currently reading Vagabond (flew though the previous two) and I have The last Kingdom on my bookshelf waiting to jump into next. Forgive me for rambling a bit but the point of my message is this: I didn't have much of a formal education but I've always loved history. Your books have taught me more and set me off wanting to know more then the dry and dusty lessons I received ever did, and I wanted you to know that. Thanks. Shane O'Hara
