This is a great historical adventure novel. Set in the American War of Independence it is from the British point of view, which is too rare. The hero of the story is Col. Cato late of the North British Dragoons. He is called off the half pay list to train Loyalist Cavalry in the southern colonies, this leads to all sorts of adventures. It's very hard to put this down once you start. The author is an excellent writer and he knows cavalry having served in India between the wars with the 4th Queen's own hussars. He also knows the American War of Independence.
