Soldiers

One of my very first books - and one that captured my interest from an early age. This is an ideal starter for youngsters aged 3 upwards to learn about different types of soldier throughout the ages, narrative on uniforms, the weapons and equipment they used, from various nations around the globe. And the excellent illustrations by Frank Humphris are truly inspirational! I was actually leafing through the pages of a very battered, dog-eared copy and felt it a worthy submission for the Club. The actual typeface is large and the wording kept simple, keeping in mind the inquisitive mind for young readers, yet also informative. Many Ladybird titles were created with schools and parents in mind, helping to encourage reluctant beginners to progress (as I did). I'm not sure if Ladybird series ceased production, but whatever the case I strongly recommend this mid-70's volume for modern-day use.
