Mr. Cornwell, I'm 62 years of age have not read but a handful of books of fiction in my lifetime-I stumbled upon Richard Sharpe quite by accident (foolishly thinking "Waterloo" was non-fiction) What a glorious read! I am hooked! Currently I'm reading the final Starbuck and reading my 7th Sharpe, and "Enemy of God." Thank you of many hours of enjoyment-Sharpe, Starbuck and Derfel are my kind of men. Many thanks! Bob

Q

Man I hated when Horgan died, and really became disappointed when he did not get his regiment, but the last book was golden - Waterloo. Then I found out this was not the end and am feverishly seeking out the others. As an officer who came up through the ranks I love your work. There are three great historical writers YOU, Forrester/Hornblower, and Frazier/Flashman. Magnificent job, and I love the character of Dogget in Waterloo, hope he doesn't buy the farm. Cheers, John Lewis

Q

I have written to you before but I have just read "Sharpe's Escape" and I loved it. I even did a book report in school about it. I'm thinking of joinng the Sharpe Appreciation Society, that's how much I love Sharpe. I often wish for a time machine that will bring me back to the time period you write about. I'd go without hesitation. Can't wait till the next Sharpe edition. Keep it up. Clay Davis

Hope you got a good grade on your report!

Q

Mr. Cornwell, The Sharpe series is extremely well written. So much so that it makes me feel like I am marching right along side Sharpe, Harper, Hagman, and the rest of the 95th under Sharpe's command. I wish you the best of luck on further Sharpe books, for as you say at the end of each, Sharpe and Harper will march again. Sincerely, Jake F. Atlanta, Georgia

Q

I have derived great pleasure from reading all of your novels over the last 15 years. Historical accuracy combined with attention to detail and a fast pace are the trademark of all of your books. Uhtred will give you a whole new series Just be a bit kinder to the Welsh in the follow up to 'The Last Kingdom'!! Gareth Rees

A

I shall be as kind to the Welsh as they were to the Saxons, but you'll be pleased to know that in the last two or three chapters of the follow-up a Welshman virtually takes over the book - and he's definitely a good guy.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell. I have just read "A Crowning Mercy". I found it staggeringly good. It was totally diverting throughout, the charecterisation was superb and the plot kept me from doing all the thing that I was supposed to doing this weekend. Sorry if this pean of praise sound a bit gushing, but I really was impressed. Trevor

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell. I first wrote to you in October last year, after having read just 4 Sharpe books. I have now read all of them except Sharpe's Escape, which I am half way through, and Sharpe's Trafalgar, which has just arrived from Amazon. In the last 4 months I have done little or no cooking, gardening, cleaning, writing, visiting, running or anything else that can't be done with a book in one hand! I have had the most fabulous time slacking off and reading, and you are entirely to blame!! In about 2 weeks' time I will have to face reality and pick up the forgotten threads of my mundane life once more, while I await the publication of your next Sharpe book. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! NEVER stop writing Sharpe, PLEASE! You have my eternal admiration, homage and devotion. Your devoted fan, Sue.

Q

Greatly enjoyed Last Kingdom and look forward to next instalment - and what an interesting connection in Saga mag. Presume Starbuck and Thomas of Hookton not forgotten and will be marching again sometime and surely Sharpe cannot rest? Your endosement Conn Iggulden fully justified - just finished his latest - serious rival for you there! Thank you for the enjoyment you have given since you began writing. I found the Arthur trilogy especially exciting as I know the Abermule area well from holidays; wish I had a pound for each time I have cycled up Derfel's valley - where you stayed for a while - imagination is a wonderful thing! Q

Hi Mr. Cornwell. Have just finished the Last Kingdom and have enjoyed it immensely. I have read most of your books now and started with Harlequin. You have opened a new literary arena for me as I had read hardly any historical fiction. I can't seem to get enough now so thanks for that. I hope we will hear from Uhtred again soon and I hope you enjoy writing and creating these characters as much as we enjoy reading about them. yours Sarah Mayson.

A

I do enjoy it Sarah, thank you! And you will be hearing from Uhtred again soon.

Q

Dear Mr Cornwell, My fiance who lives in England recommended your books to me. He said that I would love them and he was exactly right! I have just finished Gallows Thief. Excellent book! I could not put it down! Please continue a series with Sandman and the characters that helped him find the real killer. I would love to know how their lives progressed! I love the way you wove real facts into the plot! I am not only an avid reader, but also a budding journalist just starting college at 42 years of age. You make people like me want to write. I look forward to reading all of your books! I believe I will start The Arthur book series after I have read A Crowning Mercy. Best Wishes In All Your Endeavors, Linda

A

And best of luck to you with your new career!
