Thanks for the Sharpe books. In the 8th October Ottawa Citizen: a Canadian family found a solid gold bejewelled tiger head which once adorned the throne of the Tipu sultan stored in their attic inherited from Scottish ancestors. Sold at auction in Britain on Thurs by Bonhams for more than $700,000. A few more details about the Battle of Seringapatam followed. Mentioned the Tipu was killed there but not by whom. Thanks again for the great reading, John Bartlett.

Dear Sir, One piece of the puzzle regarding the final fate of the Tipu Sultan’s treasure has been found: http://www.vancouversun.com/Family+jewelled+tiger+head+fetches/3642013/story.html. Still no word on who killed him though.
