Dear Mr Cornwell, I have been reading your books for many years. My Father brought a copy of Sharpe’s Sword to the dinner table one night so I could show him how my reading was going. Since that moment I haven’t stopped. I am now 26 have read all of your books. In fact, I am re-reading The Saxon tales now for the third time. I am writing to simply say, thank you for writing your books. I read a great deal and you are one of my favourite authors. The Warlord Chronicles were books my Father, Brother and I read together. My Brother is now a Captain in the army, my Father and I have sadly fallen out but I read your tale of Arthur and of Derfel, his friend, every year and I am always so very pleased to be able to travel to back through the mists and learn about Britain, later to be our England and to chuckle at Merlin’s search for some decent cheese. So, thank you again for all your hard work. It does not go unappreciated. My Brother has just shipped out to Afghanistan and reading about Uhtred is helping me to cope with his absence. Whenever I see my Brother I stretch my hands to the sky and mock yell “Ragnar!”, as Uhtred did after his first shield wall against the Welsh cattle thieves. So as you can see your books have had the quite the impact. I am avidly looking forward to the next chapter in Uhtred’s journey (and to whatever else you care to write about). I look forward to learning more about England and I hope you are enjoying writing your stories as much as I enjoy reading them. Yours Sincerely Richard Allman-Brown
