Dear Bernard (if I may!), Thankyou for your books, especially the Warlord series. I read these when I was young(er), and they inspired me and my father in various ways. I have since written a doctorate thesis on trees in Anglo-Saxon culture (book on trees in A/S religion to follow). The passages on the ruins of London were especially important for me. My father, David Bintley, also choreographed two ballets with the composer John McCabe about Arthur. I studied with Richard North, whose father’s work I believe you may also have drawn upon when working on Stonehenge. I am personally interested in creative writing on 7th century Northumbria at some point, but have read your rules on reading MSS, so won’t divulge further! A thankyou from all of us. Michael Bintley
