Dear Bernard, Thought you might be interested in an item seen on BBC TV last night (2 May). On “The Antiques Road Show”, the second of two recorded at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, a gentleman brought in a group of four medals awarded to a British Officer during the Napoleonic Wars. Graham Lay, the militaria expert, valued them at in excess of £50,000. The gentleman who owned them was a direct descendant of Lt Col Sir Robert Fletcher, the Engineer responsible for building the Lines of Torres Vedras in Portugal for Sir Arthur Wellesley. The group of medals is to be left to the Imperial War Museum.
