I’ve been reading the Saxon Series, from book 1 through book 4 and am awaiting book 5 from the Bozeman, MT library. As an American of Scandinavian and central Asian descent (Polish Baltic, actually, but very Hun-like features), I’d like to thank you for bringing to light the old Norse and Saxon cultures. My Scandinavian relatives (Norwegian and Swedish) are extremely mild-mannered these days, but somehow I turned out to be the wild one, eschewing my Catholic upbringing(from my Polish ancestors on my mother’s side) because of my disgust for the corporate church and sadistic, arrogant, hypocritical priests and nuns; ending up in the northern Rocky Mts, where I am a civil engineer, farming with my very-Celtic woman, who maintains her Catholicism, by the way. The old gods thrill me in a way that the God on the Cross never did, as does the no-nonsense old Nordic culture. Lately, I’ve gotten into Viking heavy metal, excellent skiing, telemark, of course, and drinking music. “When I come home from a quest, I have no need for rest, wenches and mead is what I need!” I hope to die with a sword or axe in my hand and meet you, or already be there to greet you, in the Corpse Hall! Thanks again.
