Hi Bernard, I just wanted to write to you and let you know how much I am currently riveted by ‘The Warlord Chronicles’. My husband has been suggesting I read them to encourage him regarding a series of druid themed paintings he’s about to embark upon inspired by Bardsea Island and the gold route towards Cheshire where we live. I’ll be honest, I resisted, seeing your books purely as ‘boys books’. I couldn’t work out what a 37 yr old mother of two would find interesting about battle strategy and grubby Saxon warlords. Well, I was wrong! Your writing is so clever and you completely drew me in with your subtle humour. You have an amazing talent for characterisation, description and planting full-colour, detailed images in a reader’s mind. I’d better get back to the chores soon and stop ignoring the children as I haven’t been able to put it down! My husband read ‘Agincourt’ last year whilst we were co-incidentally holidaying in Hesdin, France, so we took a slow drive round the site of the battlefield which took on new meaning thanks to your words bringing it to life. Now our only problem is what to read next! Thanks again, we are new converts and fans of your work. Regards, Deanna Thomas
