Mr. Cornwell, My father recently passed away after a long and brave fight with many illnesses. My wife and I had the privilege to care for him in our home for the last two years and are now left with a large hole in our life. However, thanks to you and Richard Sharpe, his last two years might have been the best years of our relationship. When my father could not leave my house anymore, he spent his days reading. He was always an avid reader and could make his way through one of your novels in only two days. When he fist moved in, I was just finishing my first Sharpe novel and he quickly snatched it up off my bed stand. What took place next changed my relationship with my father. We began reading the Sharpe series together. Almost every night I would settle into a chair next to his bed and we would talk about the story and history together. We even went as far as buying a Brown Bess musket. My father had me fire it from my back patio (without a ball of course) so that he could hear, smell and feel the story. I can not thank you enough for changing our relationship bringing my father more joy and happiness than I ever thought he could possess at the end of his life.
