Dear Bernard Cornwell, your books are a most pleasurable way to learn history, especially military history. I must disagree with your comment however in “The Heretic”, that against Scotland, England usually won. In the 14th century, England won at Falkirk, Dupplin Moor, Halidon Hill, and Neville’s Cross, Scotland won at Stirling Bridge, Bannockburn, Culblean, and Otterburn. Only Bannockburn and Culblean were politically significant. Interestingly, like at Agincourt, victory in every case went to the side with the smallest numbers. Regards Charles Russell.
