I am at present reading Azincourt and enjoying it very much. I have found a mistake on page 119, however, which you might like to know about. Father Christopher is telling Hook about a brothel in Oxford and says that “I met the Bishop of Oxford there at least half a dozen times”. That cannot have been so because at that time there was no diocese, and so no Bishop of Oxford. The See of Oxford was not created until 1547 when Henry VIII carved it out of the Diocese of Lincoln. I am sorry if I am being pedantic. Yours sincerely Frank E Robson Lately Registrar of the Province of Canterbury and for forty years Registrar of the Diocese of Oxford.
