The Sharpe films are not as good as the books – for me at least! The Sharpe books are history books with a fictitious central character and are a fabulous way of learning “Brittania rules” history. The films are Sharpe personal stories with a bit of history around but nothing detailed. The difference may be subtle and even incomprehensible to some but vital to me. Drop the breadth and depth of the history and concentrate on Sharpe alone and the point is lost. For me. Very well done Sir, as many will have told you.
