Hi Bernard I read the question/comment from Brendy Meurisse and her love of the middle ages and chivalry. Whilst you may not be able to get excited about the middle ages, may I suggest Brendy and other like minded readers try the books of Elizabeth Chadwick. Whilst a bit more Mills and Boone than Bernard Cornwell they are a good read and set in just that period. Her novel “The Greatest Knight” tells the first part of the “true” story of William Marshall, later Earl of Pembroke during the time of Henry 2nd, his sons the young Henry, Richard the Lionheart and King John, he went on the become regent to the young Henry 3rd. Her books are well researched but lack the realism of battle you seem to weave into every book, they are a bit lightweight but nevertheless a good read when you’ve run out of Bernard Cornwell novels!
