Hi I bought your latest (Azincourt) on Wednesday. I was determined not to rush this one, but couldn’t put it down so finished at 1.30 am on Thursday (which included work, sandwiches and visit to relations!) You said in your introduction that you had been looking forward to writing this story since you began, and it showed. This is your best yet, and I enjoyed all of them. When I was at school (too many years ago) a homework was to learn the Shakespeare Henry V speech at Harfleur (“Once more unto the breach….”) which I then did on a stage at a talent contest. Came second to a Shirley Temple look-a-like with the good ship Lollipop! But have never forgotten it! Have startled many friends by suddenly reciting it! Trouble is, when we did history at school, you did dates, battles, and other things. You are filling in the gaps to show how near run these battles were like Crecy and Agincourt. I love the Sharpe novels and Starbuck. but these early English novels are brilliant. I’m sorry, I loaned my book to a friend, but when it comes back, I might do something I haven’t done in a long while. I have to read it again! Thank you for this book. Not only did I enjoy the read, but I enjoy the memory of the story. I’m not bothered what you write next, you get better each time! Best wishes Bill Cordwell
