Dear sir, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to you for the Sharpe series. I have always been an avid reader, but I find it impossible to put your books down once I begin to read them. As a history major from the Virginia Military Institute, your books bring military history to life and give it a wonderful character and storyline to follow. The characters are compelling, the plots are irresistible, but the descriptions of the battles and of the soldiers is amazing. I can only hope one day to be able to make some of the same travels that you have and truly appreciate the sites that you so vividly describe in your novels. I have only just now read through Sharpe’s Sword, so I have several more books yet to go, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to tell the author that you have without question produced one of the most enjoyable series that I have ever had the pleasure of immersing myself in.
