I don’t know of any novel that features Black Douglas, but he sounds familiar . . . maybe someone can remind me if they know of one? Hi – regarding this comment on 20 September posting: Nigel Tranter features him heavily as a companion and colleague of Robert the Bruce. I think there’s actually one of Tranter’s novels where he’s the lead character. The Black Douglas is a really important character in Scottish History and his sister made a contribution too, most famously using her arm to bar a door. Jane
