My favourite character is Sharpe, and I especially love the first three books in India when Sharpe was a proper redcoat. I was also amazed by Arthur Wellesley’s victories at Ahmednuggur, Assaye and Gawilghur, of which I had never heard before. Strange though it seems, my other favourite character is tom Garrard, even though he is not mentioned a lot. Matteo
