Just wanted to say thank you for the magnificent Sharpe series. I read several Sharpe books in the 1990s and then discovered recently that you have filled Richard’s history out most delightfully. I have began reading the Sharpe Saga from the beginning and now have reached Sharpe’s Sword. I am amazed that you have been able to so seamlessly carried the story forward even thought many books are written 20 years apart. As an US Army veteran of almost 25 years, I have found your stories very authentic and remarkably detailed. The plots and action narratives are wonderful but I truly enjoy your descriptions of the lives of ordinary soldiers and the mixed bag of officers who led them. Alas the only real connection I have with Richard is that we were both quartermasters (and Lieutenant Colonels). Best wishes. Brad Howell
