Dear Mr Cornwell. I have read the grail quest, the saxon chronicles, the crowning mercy and fallen angels, redcoat etc., all once. The Starbuck chronicles twice and all of the Sharpes books Six times. Needless to say I’m a Sharpes fan and I hope you don’t mind if I say that I was so upset when you killed off Major Hogan in Sharpe’s Siege. Now as a carpet fitter I have no intention of writing a book so please let me say that you could re-introduce Hogan by completing something that has been missed out. Sharpe has got his revenge on all of his early enemies with the exception of Captain Morris (Major Morris in Sharpe’s company). Hakeswell says he is Dublin and after Sharpe’s Revenge, Harper returns to Dublin (happy coincidence. I know of no military action that took place in Ireland in the period concerned but you seen to have an amazing ability to find things that we mere mortals no nothing about. Hogan could have faked his death to be sent to Ireland to sort a scandal out and Morris could be involved. As I said I understand that you do not want readers to give you plots, so, if there has to a contract I’ll settle for a signed copy of your master piece should you ever write it. My best and kindest regards. Mike Walker FAN….
