Mr. Cornwell, It’s with a bit of sadness that I’ve finished both the Sharpe series and the last edition of the Saxon stories this month. These were the last of your series that I hadn’t fully read yet and knowing that there was always one more story made the doldrums of modern life more bearable. As your typical middle aged guy working hard to raise a family and keep the ship safely on course, I’ve lived vicariously through Sharpe, Derfel, Uhtred, Starbuck and all the other great characters you’ve given us. I’m sure I’m not the first fan to tell you they would have been better suited to the horror of a shield-wall than the slow death of the cube farm. Alas fate is inexorable and I play the cards I am dealt, letting the warrior within join ranks with the characters of your books whenever time and circumstance allow. So, I offer my greatest thanks to you for all your hard work and dedication. It’s much appreciated. In the meantime, I will keep my sword sharp and my pan primed until the next adventure. Jeff Combs
