Roberta Parker asks in a posting on March 18 for a biography of William Wallace. I don’t know of a proper biography, but Scottish author Nigel Tranter wrote an excellent historical novel about him. She will probably have to find it in a library. According to the flyleaf in one of his books, Tranter’s novels are the way many Scots have learned their history. A brave claim, but he’s covered huge swathes of Scottish history in his novels which are generally excellent. Chris

In response to Roberta Parker’s request for a biography of William Wallace March 18th. I just happened to pick up a copy of Nigel Tranter’s “The Wallace” in a used book store recently. This might be of interest to her. I have not read it yet (too busy reading someone else’s books)so I can’t speak to its quality or historical accuracy. I will add my thanks to you for your books and the many hours I have enjoyed reading them. Ken Macaulay
