Hi Mr Cornwell, My name is Grant Attard from Sydney, Australia and I just wanted to write you a quick email to thank you for many nights of reading enjoyment. I have a knack of reading historical fiction before I go to sleep to rest my eyes and enlighten my knowledge of past times but thanks to your wonderfully written novels I have found myself right into the stories and losing track of time, sometimes looking at the clock and realizing that it is 2am and I have to go to work in a few hours. The way you set the scene and briefly explain the characters and not dwell on too much character detail is great and gives the opportunity to offer more scenarios and absolutely fantastic battle scenes that really put you in their shoes. The Grail quest is a true work of genius and the Arthurian series although with complicated names and places to remember (thank you for the map and names reference at the start of the book) and relate to really was well thought out, I have always wondered how King Arthur came about and I like the way you depicted the clash between Christianity and the Druid religion. I found it amazing how the Druids would perform rituals before a battle and actually believed that if you hop round on one leg that could actually scare off evil spirits. I particularly like how Merlin would pop into the story in the most imperative moments. To take one scene for example I liked the most is where Derfel was recognized at the war council (The Winter King) and Merlin appears to defend him and leave the king speechless and powerless in front of all of his servants. Keep up the good work, would love to hear from you and your future plans.
