Dear Mr Cornwell, i happened to stumble upon an incredible program on TV the other day about a knight named William Marshall. I believe he was a renowned tournament night in or around the 12th century. More surprisingly, a biography was produced at the time that records his achievements and life in general. Possibly the oldest such document in existence for somebody without noble privilege. As some people are fond of saying “reality is stranger than fiction”, this couldn’t be more true of such a character at the time. It also gave a great insight into the politics and functions of tournaments, sometimes stretching over vast vast areas, making modern day festivals (such as Glastonbury) look nothing more than a village fete. I know that you are very strict upon ideas for books, and am in no-way offering this as such, considering you are probably already aware of this great knight. But….. he wouldn’t half make a good yarn, and i reckon you’d do a great justice to this very real warrior. I know your incredibly busy, so i thank you in advance just for reading my message. All the best. Be lucky and happy. Mike Crielly
