Late in 2006 I took a job which required me to commute every week by air from my home in Brisbane. My wife bought me Sharpe’s Eagle as a gift just prior to my first flight – not sure what inspired her, but from the first couple of pages I was hooked. I have since got through a lot of the series, as I do a lot of flying. I do the same flight every week and I see a lot of the same cabin crew and consequently one refers to me as Mr Sharp (I wish) as that is all she ever sees me reading.
