Dear Sir, I’m currently serving in the British Army and living out in Germany. I have been reading your books for many years now and they have inspired me to study history via the open university. I obviously started reading the Sharpe stories and I thought that they couldn’t be topped, but your recent Saxon stories are the best set of books I’ve ever read! Saxon England is my favourite part of British history and I’ve read many books dedicated to this long period and again, Uhtred is up there with Harold Godwinson in my eyes!!
