Dear Mr. Cornwell: I recently acquired a big heap of your books and have been having the most wonderful time reading them. Thank you for being such a wonderful storyteller! I especially appreciate the energy and clarity with which you describe complicated battles. I always know exactly what’s going on, yet the scenes are never burdened with exposition. It’s also nice to see a writer of exciting war and adventure who also has such sympathy for the victims of war. I just finished Sharpe’s Prey and I do think you missed one bet there…at least, I was so sure that on that cold frosty night when Sharpe deploys the caltrops, glittering on the ground before the cathedral, that you’d draw a comparison with the legend of the Starry Field that’s supposed to give Compostela its name. Forgive my kibitzing! With great appreciation, Stephanie
