Dear Mr. Cornwell: Fate is inexorable! Several weeks ago I came across a discounted copy of The Last Kingdom in a local book store, and up to that point I was unfamiliar with your work. Since then I have read the remaining Saxon novels, have begun reading the Warlord Chronicles, and for some reason, keep referring to everyone who displeases me as an earsling!
