Nathaniel Starbuck has spent too long on his extended vacation and it is time for him to rejoin the cohort. What would Gettysburg be without Nathaniel? Would Thurber’s take on Grant at Appomattox be the final word? What about the Cornwell portrait of Grant? As much as I love Sharpe, he has now a long embroidered history; I do not think him too like Nathaniel – let Starbuck and Pecker and Swynyard return. Please.
