My son Greg who is with American Army in Afghan sent me this in email at beginning of March: “Last question you asked was whether I would like any more of the Sharpe books. My answer is “hell yes” After reading the copy of “Sharpe’s Havoc” that you sent me, and digging out the copy of “Sharpe’s Revenge” from the library, I have become hooked. So thanks. Also, the edition you sent me was much nicer than the 1989 Penguin of “Sharpe’s Revenge”. Today Greg wrote: “Received today … TWO Sharpe’s books, and (most surprising) the 2006 SI swimsuit issue. And of course I stayed up way to damn late last night reading….I decided to start with “Sharpe’s Waterloo”. Something I admire about the books: Cornwell obviously put a lot of work to insert a fictional character into the best reconstruction of the actual events that he can put together. In this volume being a staff officer who manages to be both at the Duchess of Richmond’s ball, and at Quatre Bras, then defending against the charge of the Imperial Guard. Good thing you sent them too because a lieutenant borrowed “Sharpe’s Havoc” from me, and asked if I would be getting more.” Thought you might like to know your Sharpe novels are being appreciated by the boys over there. Keep up the good writing and how about a fund to provide more copies to those guys who are and will become loyal fans. Ed Lukanusk, Camp Hill, PA
