Mr Cornwell I have just heard that in another of its restructurings (i.e. trying to do more with less), the British Army is going to amalgamate its light infantry regiments into a single, seven battalion regiment called …. The Rifles. I also hear from ‘sources close to the MoD’ that the global popularity of a certain Mr Richard Sharpe esq had a great deal to do with the choice of name. On a sadder note, my father (ex KRRC) recently passed away and I would like to thank you for the wonderful Sharpe books, which were a great source of enjoyment to him (and continue to be so for me). I know he would have approved of the new regiment. Andy
