Bernard (like many other I feel as if I have known you for years) – Many thanks for your splendidly entertaining talk at Chesterfield this evening (6 Oct). When you hold someone in such high regard meeting them in person can be something of a let down – I’m glad to say you were everything I expected, witty, charming, errudite (as expected) informative and with the patience of a saint (or should that be a Bishop – perhaps not). As I said to you, you have inspired me to start on my own historical novel – now of course it’s turned into a trilogy – frankly if you nick my ideas I’d be delighted because I am sure you would do a better job and I’d be happy to pay up! Long may you continue to inspire, inform and delight – I’m not sure where you get the time to do it all! Best Wishes, Andrew
