Dear Mr. Cornwell. I first got into your books about 6 years ago by picking up the Winter King. At the time I was a history student and absolutely loved the blend of legend and historical setting that seemed to come alive with every page. So when the adventures of Thomas hit the bookstores I was extremely excited (The Hundred Years’ War is a small obsession of mine), and you did not disappoint. I resisted the Sharpe series until recently, and that was a serious mistake on my part. I love these novels, for their realism and sheer entertainment. The characters are believable, the settings are alive, I can just picture myself amongst the men, the smells, and the sounds of the battlefields and other locales. Now, as a bookseller, your novels are the first I recommend, and I am currently having a competition with a customer to see who can finish the Sharpes first.
