Greetings Sir! I’m an avid Anglo-Saxon fan [if such a term applies…]. I have been reading and teaching myself Old english for about two years now and I have a great love of all things ancient from that period. Of all of the literature that is available in that language Beowulf is my favorite. So, as my part time work [if you can call it that] is in a bookstore, I happened across your volumes and turned through a couple of them curious to read something new and different. As I was moving through the shelf, I came to The Last Kingdom, and the Arthur books. Being inot Arthur as well, and having written some of my own verse about him, I was curious to begin you series, but vacation loomed and I needed one book as opposed to three. So I chose the former. It is, though only newly opened a great work of research and I have recognised and caught many of the subtle references within to your study of Anglo-Saxon culture, etc. I wanted to commend you on your work, and encourage you to continue along with Uhtred, if the spirit moves you. However, though I suggest this to you seriously, my wife is also an author, and is as she frequently reminds me, at the bidding of her own schedule which is exclusive of all other opinions… Looking forward to finishing The Last Kingdom and hoping for a quick re-read before the next term starts… Well done sir! David Bare
