Mr. Cornwell, I don’t wish to tire you with the accolades and praise that I’m sure you receive daily from fans but…I can’t help myself, I’ve been enjoying the Richard Sharpe books so much that I can’t pass up the opportunity to tell you as much. After reading and listening to the Patrick O’Brian series over three times I cannot tell you what a pleasure it has been to suddenly discover another series as equally rewarding and yet so different. How easy it is to fall into that other world where Richard Sharpe, sergeant Harper and Jack Aubry really existed and were the heros of the early 1800’s. Sometime I find myself not wishing to put the book down for then I will have to come back to 2005 and cars, and tv’s and…automatic weapons. ): I am envious that you have these people you have created and can sit down with all the possibilities. It’s as if you are still creating, still molding a man from his teenage years to old age. Hmmm…kind of like God. Quite a responsibility (: As a late comer to the series and your writings I’ve been out of the loop concerning the masterpiece theatre series with Sean Bean. I only just saw a few of the videos and was mildly disappointed. First in the ways the stories were changed and second in the portrayal of Sharpe and Harper. The actors were fine but nothing like what I picture Sharpe and Harper actually looking like. All the same it was fun to see the uniforms and weaponry as it’s hard to visualize when reading. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for your stories. I’m down to the last four books and dreading the day I’m done. Sincerely, Peyton Higgison
