Dear Mr.Cornwell, As an Indian, I’ve grown up with tales of the Raj. Stories of resistance against the British dominated the theme of popular historical novels for children and in fact, much of the middle school history curriculum. Needless to say, the emphasis was on patriotism. It’s extremely interesting to read accounts of the Maratha war, for instance, written from the point of view of the “other”, especially a common man of the ranks (though there is nothing common about Sharpe!).For this, and for your other books, you have my deepest gratitude.
