Our “Family Regiment” for many generations, The Northamptonshire Regiment”.Cap Badge honours ” Talavera-Gibraltar”.I Lived in Northampton with so many of its streets named after battles of the Napoleonic wars. In Castillian St near Talavera barracks.I am about to settle down with a cup of tea & read “Sharpes Escape.’ This I know I will enjoy as I was taught at school in the twenties That Portugal was Englands oldest Allie ??. I have ancestors buried in France,Spain ,Philadephia usa.India. with the Regiment. Also here in Canada. Having been the first regiment to serve in the fort in Kingston. Ontario. Close to where I now reside in Picton. Prince Edward county.(I did not immigrate ,I was deported!!1947) You have done a magnificient job of research as your stories tell the truth as it was. Especially the BS imposed by the officers on the men .In my humble exservicemans judgement ,Sir. You rank with Kipling.! Thank you for many enjoyable hours. Your writing & my winter sojourns in Spain enabled me to visit the places where the Regiment made history. Cheers. Ray Ealey
