Dear Mr Cornwell, You probably get dozens of such letters a week so I’ll try to keep it as brief as possible. I stand truly enraptured by the Arthur books. I’ve just finished Enemy of God and it was breathtaking. I can hardly wait to get my grubby paws on Excalibur. Not only do I stand impressed by the doubtlessly painstaking historical and literary research you’ve probably undertaken; but I also applaud your elegant storytelling. Not only I was thrilled at every swordfight and battle, but I was – to my surprise – really moved by Derfel’s passion and Ceinwyn’s rejection of Lancelot (I’m hardly a fan of love stories, but this one truly touched me). You seem to have managed to appeal to all my difficult tastes at once, and this is why I sound like a drooling “fanboy” ;) But really, it’s just that I’m a daydreamer and a lover of History and myth, and all I wanted to say was: thank you for taking my imagination on this wild ride through Dark Ages Britain, and touching me with your masterful storytelling. Sincerely, Gustavo Iglesias, MD Rio de Janeiro Brazil
