The Sharpe series was fantastic and the Starbuck series the same through Antietam/Sharpsburg. I am left without closure on Starbuck. What did you envision for Starbuck, Truslow, Swynyard, Sally, Julia, Washington Faulconer, Blythe, and Delaney, Potter and Martha?

Dear Mr Cornwell Although I’d enjoyed the Sharpe series on TV, I’d never read any of your books until I bought Azincourt to read on a plane. I was immediately hooked and went on to the Grail Quest series, the Saxon Stories and the quite wonderful Arthur trilogy. While waiting for Death of Kings to come out, I decided to try the Starbuck Chronicles not thinking I would like them as much as your other series’ as I don’t have any real feeling for the American Civil War, despite having a degree in Modern History and having studied the period. To my surprise, however, and after a slow start with Rebel, I absolutely loved Nate Starbuck, Truslow et al and was disappointed when I finished the fourth book, particularly following the brave demise of Lucifer. I really want Billy Blythe to meet a particularly nasty fate and hope that you can schedule a return to Starbuck after the next Thomas of Hookton novel…is there any possibility that you could do that? I know that a lot of readers will want another Sharpe, but there must be a hard core band of Starbuck fans out there that are looking for the story to continue, he’s been resting a long while! Dear Mr C, I have come late to Nate Starbuck and am surprised that ‘The Bloody Ground’ is the last for a while. Will we see him at Fredericksburg or Gettysburg please?I appreciate that a very large degree of research is necessary for each book.
