Mr Cornwell – just a note to thank you so very much for all the joy and pleasure. In particular, although I have read other of your series, I have become (at the age of 66!) addicted to Richard Sharpe – a fine and stirring invention. I love the detail and the historical accuracy of your books; the one which caused me most problems was the short scene in Copenhagen when Sharpe escaped from a closed room by the chimney and into the adjoining room. I suffer from claustrophobia, and Mr Cornwell, I was in a muck sweat while reading that terrifyingly vivid passage. Unladylike description, but accurate. Thank you again for many hours of pleasure and excitement; I am reading Sharpe chronologically, and at the moment am working on Sharpe’s Enemy.
