Mr. Cornwell, In reference to James questions on May 18 about Hogan and Nairn. Hogan died of the fever, as others posted. Major General Nairn died in Sharpe’s Revenge, in Toulouse. Leading his first brigade, he was shot twice, second time fatal. Buried in the redoubt. The next day the French fled. It was a sad death to me, I liked Nairn. It was especially sad, as the whole battle was fought after the peace was signed. Story written long ago by you, but read by me fairly recently.
