I love all your books, and have read all but a couple which are in my stack to read shortly. I have been working on the riddle for Sharpe’s Father. “Take you out, put me in and a horse appears in this happy person!” This time I got a few steps to click together. Here is what I did: there are a few languages that are used the most in yours book. Mostly English, French, some Portuguese, and some Latin. So I looked up “happy person” in these languages and found that in Latin (which I know some of) happy person can be translated as “beatus persona.” Ignoring the persona I focused on beatus. I then took the “u” out an placed “me” in. Ergo giving me “beatmes.” I was puzzled at this point, but found out that “mes” is actually a horse jumping group. On there homepage of their website it even reads: “Welcome to the M.E.S. Horses home page. M.E.S. Horses specializes in acquiring fine show jumping horses for riders at all levels in the sport. “Whether you are an competitive amateur or a seasoned professional, our “one to one” service will ensure that we find the perfect horse for your needs and budget.” The find the horse part of the riddle is not linked only in words as well as in name with the “find” in the homepage of the website. I then proceeded to look at the names of the horses that they offered. I eliminated the female horse since we are looking for Sharpe’s Father, and did not find to many possible leads. I did find that one of the horses is “Sai Pan Z.” A prompt search later and I find the battle over the island of Saipan. Saipan is one of the Mariana Islands, and so I looked up Mariana Sharpe through Google and the first thing that popped up was Edward & Mariana Sharpe. Edward would thus be Sharpe’s father and Mariana, Sharpe’s Mother. Therefore Edward Sharpe is the name of Sharpe’s Father. Thanks for your time, Ledz
