Mr. Cornwell,
I’m glad to have found your website as it gives me the opportunity to thank you for your books. In high school, if I remember correctly, the Grail Quest series were some of my favorite stories and likely spurred within me an interest in medieval history. Now I’ve gone back through those, and have moved onto your other works of which I particularly enjoy the Arthurian stuff. Merlin was a fantastic characterization, as was Arthur. Also I like the period in which they are set, and you did a commendable job describing with lucidity a time which is unfortunately under-documented. Lastly I must mention the cleverness with which you handled magic in the Arthur books. It was a wildly delicate feat to make so believable the ancient mysteries while still adhering to a naturalistic world. Anyway I should probably wrap up, as its bad to be dull, though there is more that could be said. I realize now that I’m starting to write myself (comics, I’m an illustrator) that your books have had a profound influence on how I think. Though I have since read and seen many other things, all of which have been stipped of clear identity and absorbed into the boiling gray mass that is a person’s inspiration, it is undeniable that somewhere there at the center of it all is your work.
So thank you again, and I hope you’re doing well.
