Mr Cornwell:
I’m a big fan of your writing, and I’m in the process of rereading the Sharpe series for the third time.  The characters are so lifelike, whether heroic or villainous.  Hakeswell is the most loathesome character I’ve ever encountered in a book.  Where did you get the inspiration for his repeated and insane “…says so in the scriptures” statement?  The dialogue is brilliant throughout.  I would desperately like to see more!

Would Sharpe have been too old to be involved in England’s military adventures following the Napoleanic Wars?  I was a history major but confess that I don’t know much about English colonialialism except for here in the U.S..
