Greetings, Mr. Cornwell.

Firstly, I thoroughly enjoy your work, especially The Sharpe series and The Saxon Stories.  I am an aspirng writer myself, and your work has been a significant influence.  I wanted to ask to questions about the Saxon Stories in other media:  First, and I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, would you ever want to see The Saxon Tales adapted to film or perhaps a television program like The Sharpe Series?  Second, and this one might be one you haven’t heard, what about video games?  I ask this because there is a Japanese video game company called KOEI that has made seven very successful historical action games based around the Chinese War of Three Kingdoms.  In recent years, however, they have branched out to include titles dealing with the Warring States (or Sengouku) Period of Japan, The Trojan War, and The Hundred Years War.  The games take a historical period of warfare and allow the player to choose from a wealth of historical characters and participate
in each battle in which said character played a role.  It also allows history to be written by the player as one can win the war in question with powers others than those who won (and history is written by the winners).  The player fights in fever pitched melee battles whilst carrying out the actual strategies historically employed.  All that being said, I can see no better story than your saxon Stories to be adapted into a video game by KOEI.  You have an important historical period, a wealth of characters using a variety of weapons, battles involving shield walls, archery units, calvery, and siege elements, and a thoroughly engaging story that players would be thrilled to play from different perspectives.  Just a thought I’ve always had.  Anyway, keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Matt
